Terroir
Natural factors
- Soils: very dense marls over a limestone bedrock, well-drained, ensuring a balanced water supply to the vines.
- South/south-east exposure on a steeply sloping hillside at the foot of the Vosges.
- Protection from damp north-westerly winds provided by the Vosges massif, creating a favourable mesoclimate.
- A homogeneous geo-pedological unit combined with a mesoclimate that defines the character of the appellation.
Product characteristics
- Age-worthy white wines: dominant tartaric acidity, great body, complexity, and aromatic power that develops over time.
- Vendanges Tardives: exotic aromas and candied fruits, colour ranging to amber-yellow; Sélection de Grains Nobles: more concentrated, with fruit-paste aromas and excellent ageing potential.
Terroir / wine link
- The dense marls yield full-bodied, rich wines with elegant salinity and great aromatic finesse.
