Natural factors
- Soils divided into two facies: marine (sandy clays, yellowish sands, conglomerates) to the south-west and lacustrine (sandy-clayey) to the north-east.
- Presence of volcanic soils featuring stratified tufo, pumice, ash and lapilli across an area of approximately 5 km² between Lugnano in Teverina and Giove, correlatable with the tufi of Orvieto.
- The north-eastern lacustrine deposits belong to the Lago Tiberino, characteristic of the intensively cultivated viticultural zones of Umbria.
- Vineyards situated between 50 and 400 m above sea level, with slopes ranging from 1% to 16%; rainfall peaks in autumn, accounting for approximately 35% of the annual total.
Human factors
