Natural factors
- Soils are clay-loam, moderately alkaline, with a relatively high calcium carbonate content.
- Moist winds from the Pagasetic Gulf shape cool summers and mild winters.

- South-easterly vineyard aspect, proximity to the sea, forests, and rivers are among the factors that give the appellation its unique character.
Human factors
- The appellation of origin Αγχίαλος was officially recognised by the Greek state as early as 1970.
- Refugees from Asia Minor and Eastern Rumelia brought with them the knowledge and traditions of viticulture to the region.
Product characteristics
- Ροδίτης from Αγχίαλος yields dry whites with aromas of flowers, citrus, apple, melon, and banana, with a well-balanced alcohol-to-acidity ratio.
- The same wine can develop a full, unctuous body with potential for ageing.
