Terroir
Natural factors
- Extreme continental climate with Mediterranean influence; located in the southernmost area of Navarra, with the highest heat accumulation in the region.
- South-facing slope aspect that locally raises temperatures and reduces relative humidity in the vineyard.
- Dual rainfall effect: the Foehn effect from the Sierra de Moncayo blocks rainfall from the south, while proximity to the Ebro prevents northern precipitation from crossing to the south bank of the river.
- Low-temperature northerly winds precede rainfall, further reducing relative humidity and intensifying the dryness of the zone.
- High summer temperatures promote the combustion of organic acids, resulting in an especially low malic acid content.
Product characteristics
- Reds with deep color, polymerized tannins, silky texture, full body without astringency, and a fruit profile with very low pyrazines.
- Over-ripe, glyceric whites with golden yellow color, aromas of ripe fruit, honey, and citrus, age-worthy due to high polyphenol concentration.
Terroir / wine link
- The extremely warm and dry climate of Bolandin yields reds with highly polymerized tannins, no astringency, full body, and excellent aging potential.
