Terroir
Natural factors
- Degraded oceanic climate with southern and continental influences; mean annual rainfall below 800 mm, with no summer drought
- The north-easterly exposure creates a cool mesoclimate specific to this sector of the Côte Chalonnaise
- Zone covering 2 communes (Bouzeron and Chassey-le-Camp), Saône-et-Loire, ~64 ha declared in 2023
Human factors
- The reputation of Bouzeron's white wines dates to the 18th century: Courtépée cited them in 1775, and André Jullien later compared them to the 'third-tier cuvées of Meursault' in 1816.
Terroir / wine link
- The marly subsoils of the vineyards lend the wines notes of dried fruit and a pronounced minerality, layered over the bright, floral character typical of Aligoté.
