Terroir
Natural factors
- Amphitheatre-like morphology between the rivers Astico and Brenta, with hills sloping gently down toward the upper Vicenza plain.
- Sedimentary soils to the north-east (arenaria and calcare) with blue marne interspersed with arenaceous-marnose layers along the southern and eastern margins.
- Gentle orography favours good solar radiation across the entire hilly and flat growing area.
Product characteristics
- Torcolato: a wine made from passite grapes, pressed in January — evoking the sweet wines described in 1610 by Andrea Scotto and the dried-grape version cited in 1754.
