Natural factors
- Hilly terrain on calcareous, anhydritic, and gypsiferous formations, with a mean elevation of 128 m a.s.l. and an average slope of 11%.
- South of Capalbio: low-lying terraces (97 m a.s.l., 2% slope) on mixed-granulometry alluvial deposits and sandy marine sediments.
- Mediterranean climate: mean temperature 15.2 °C, rainfall ~690 mm/year, Huglin index between 2,300 and 2,500 units.
- Rainfall concentrated in autumn and winter, peaking in November; absolute minimum between the first and third decades of July.
Human factors
- Near Marsiliana (Albegna river), Etruscan pithoi were discovered: a wine-collection hub drawing from the hills of Manciano, Capalbio, Magliano, and Scansano.
