Terroir
Natural factors
- Plateau of glacial debris and clay layers in the middle of the Pianura Padana.
- Monte Netto: a promontory that rises sharply from the Pianura Padana south of Brescia, with no irrigation water.
- Predominantly clay soil on Monte Netto, with farming typical of hilly terrain.
- The zone lies below the Milano–Venezia railway line, which marks the boundary between hill and mountain agriculture and the Pianura Padana.
Human factors
- The vine was cultivated almost as a medicinal plant: wine was used against pellagra, a historic scourge of the area.
Product characteristics
- Capriano del Colle Bianco: delicate on the nose, floral-fruity with hints of ripe apple; dry on the palate, slightly tart when young.
- Trebbiano: delicate and pleasant bouquet, fresh and harmonious palate, with a possible perception of oak.
Terroir / wine link
- Monte Netto, lacking irrigation, has predominantly clay soil over a plateau of glacial debris and clay layers, lending the Bianco notes of ripe apple and a slightly tart flavour.
