Natural factors
- Soils of 'terre rosse' origin formed by decalcification of calcareous sedimentary rocks of the Monti Affilani, coloured by the deep red of free iron and aluminium oxides.
- Three pedological variants: heavy argillo-silty terre rosse, loose terre rosse (sparsely distributed), and detritic terre rosse containing calcareous fragments.
- Vineyards situated between 350 and 950 m a.s.l., on the slopes of the Monti Affilani with predominantly west-, south-west-, and south-facing exposures.
- Temperate climate with annual precipitation between 1,431 and 1,606 mm and no summer aridity (summer rainfall 123–160 mm).
- Mean temperatures between 12.0 and 13.6 °C; cold winters with monthly averages below 10 °C for 5–6 months and a coldest-month minimum between 0.1 and 1.3 °C.
Product characteristics
