Terroir
Natural factors
- Four distinct categories of pedogenetic substrates: marine rocks (Macigno, silty marls, argillaceous scisti), Pliocene sands, lacustrine sediments, and Holocene alluvial deposits.
- The arenaceous hills of Tuoro, Passignano, Panicale, Paciano, and Piegaro, with slopes of 30–60%, display a more rugged morphology compared to the rest of the territory.
- Sands with argillaceous and conglomeratic lenses of deltaic, coastal, and brackish origin (Pliocene), confined to the western extremity: Rengone, Porto, Laviano, and Città della Pieve.
Terroir / wine link
- Marine sedimentary substrates comprising Macigno (Miocene–Paleocene), silty marls, calcarenites, and argillaceous scisti characterize the hills surrounding the lake.
Facts drawn from the cahier's terroir-link section (Lien au terroir) by automatic interpretation — see the source.
