Terroir
Natural factors
- Territory lying between the Adriatic Sea and the Monti Sibillini, crossed by the rivers Chienti, Potenza, and Musone (the boundary with Ancona).
- Pre-Apennine hill soils dominated by calcisols, with a dynamic of calcare dissolution and re-precipitation in preferential horizons.
- Predominantly calcarenitic-pelitic geological substrates, with the presence of argille soils and colluvial inputs in the minor valleys.
- 75% of the provincial surface area has slopes between 2% and 50%; aspects are evenly distributed with a slight prevalence toward the east.
Terroir / wine link
- Hill-zone calcisols with a dynamic of calcare dissolution and re-precipitation: the dominant substrate that characterizes the pedogenesis of the area.
