- Territory between the Fiume Sesia (flowing from Monte Rosa) and the Fiume Ticino (flowing from the Gottardo), in north-eastern Piemonte.
- Soils of morainic-alluvial origin, more silty-clayey on the lower hillsides, looser and sandier at higher elevations.
- The viticultural landscape is visually dominated by the proximity of Monte Rosa.
Human factors
- The vine has been present in the area since Roman times, cited by Pliny the Elder for its quality and widespread cultivation.
