Natural factors
- Calcareous backbone of the peninsula with more erodible argille slopes, interspersed with deep torrential gorges.
- Morphology shaped at the end of the Pliocene (~1.5 million years ago): an elongated W–NW structure separates the alluvial plains of Sarno and the Sele.
- The Monti Lattari form the spine of the peninsula; the vineyards descend from their slopes toward the sea.
- Three distinct sub-zones (Ravello, Tramonti, Furore) articulate the DOC along the entire Amalfi Coast. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Terroir / wine link
- Calcareous framework of the Monti Lattari with argille slopes: the mixed calcare–argilla soil is the direct geological substrate of the coastal vineyards.
