- Zone covering 47 communes in the Bouches-du-Rhône and 2 in the Var, between the Durance to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
- Soils are either marly-calcareous and stony with a clay-silt matrix, or on molasse/sandstone, very sandy or sandy-silty with stones.
- Mediterranean climate with 2,900 hours of sunshine per year; the Mistral, cold and dry, is particularly frequent in April.
- Annual rainfall between 550 and 680 mm, concentrated in spring and autumn and irregularly distributed.

Product characteristics
- Reds: floral notes (violet) and vegetal notes (hay, bay laurel, tobacco), evolving toward cinnamon and fur; reaching full expression after 2–3 years.
- Light, fruity and floral rosés with a brilliant pale pink colour, best enjoyed young; balanced, fruity reds aged until 15 April.
