Terroir
Natural factors
- Zone bordered to the north by the Jura massif, to the east by the Rhône and the Alps, and to the west by the Saône.
- Leached, acidic soils on the plains; more free-draining alluvial soils in the valleys; shallow, well-drained soils on the slopes.
- Cool oceanic climate with continental and southern influences: long, harsh winters, hot summers, and significant snowfall in the mountainous zone.
Facts drawn from the cahier's terroir-link section (Lien au terroir) by automatic interpretation — see the source.
