Terroir
Natural factors
- Lithological substrate: alternating Pleistocene piedmont sands and gravels, overlain by a mantle of loessoid loamy-sandy deposits
- The Pleistocene continental deposits overlie Pliocene marine sediments of clay, sand, and marnă composition
- Forest-steppe climate with high heliothermal richness and a favourable precipitation regime, conducive to ripening and sugar concentration
- Banded N–S piedmont relief with broad, quasi-horizontal interfluves, predominantly south- and east-facing exposures
- Transition zone between the Romanian Plain (<100 m) and the Curvature Sub-Carpathians (up to 698 m), between the valleys of the Milcov and Ramna rivers
Product characteristics
- Red wines: intense colour, aromas of raspberry, dried plum, blackcurrant, cherry, strawberry, raisin, mushroom and black pepper, with well-integrated tannins and a velvety texture
- White wines: freshness, optimal acidity, citrus, tropical, and floral aromas (rose, basil) alongside fresh green apple, underpinned by the soil's natural acidity
Terroir / wine link
- The forest-steppe climate and high heliothermal richness promote well-integrated tannins and sugar concentration in red grape varieties
