Terroir
Natural factors
- Subalpine and hilly zone on Mesozoic calcareous or calcareous-dolomitic formations, with well-drained soils.
- Shifts in wind direction during August and September produce optimal diurnal temperature variation for grape ripening.
Human factors
- The Republic of Venice (mid-14th–18th century) controlled the wine trade from the eastern Mediterranean to northern Europe, also regulating agricultural management.
Product characteristics
- Still Pinot grigio: color ranging from straw yellow to copper/rosé highlights; fruity aromas (pear, apple, tropical fruit) with notes of white flowers; fresh and harmonious palate with the variety's characteristic acidity.
- Sparkling/frizzante Pinot grigio: fine and persistent mousse; aromatic profile enriched by shell nuts as a result of autoclave processing, with bright acidity enhanced by diurnal temperature variation.
Terroir / wine link
- Diurnal temperature variation during ripening enhances and preserves the grape's acidic and aromatic profile, imparting freshness to the wines.
