Terroir
Natural factors
- Vineyard soils developed on carbonate loess – windblown (aeolian) in origin, 17–24 m thick (locally exceeding 100 m).
- Vineyard sites located on terraces and plateaus at 95–230 m above sea level; lowlands below 90 m are unsuitable for viticulture.
- Continental thermal oscillations preserve acidity overnight, while high daytime temperatures promote sugar accumulation in the grapes.
Human factors
- Training system: single or double Guyot, 10–25 buds per vine, medium-high canopy (40–120 cm).
Product characteristics
- Red wines are ruby in colour, medium to full in alcohol, moderately acidic, with balanced tannins; wines intended for ageing develop spicy aromas.
Terroir / wine link
- Kontinentalna klima: diurnal temperature variation preserves acidity, while high daytime temperatures promote sugar accumulation in the grapes.
