- Delimited plots lying between 250 m and 300 m in altitude, on a slope with approximately 150 m of elevation change, east-facing.
- Shallow, calcareous, strongly clayey soils rich in iron oxides (giving a red colour), well-drained thanks to the limestone bedrock.
- Temperate oceanic climate with continental influences; approximately 750 mm/year, mean annual temperature 10.5 °C, sheltered by the Burgundian plateaus. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Human factors
- Since the 17th century, La Tâche has had only three successive owners, with no division even during the French Revolution.
- Classified 'première classe' by Jullien (1816) and 'Tête de cuvée' by Lavalle (1855); AOC recognised in 1936, red wines from Pinot Noir N, planting density exceeding 9,000 vines/ha. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Product characteristics
- Intense aromas of red and black fruits, musk, leather, and humus; the nose is also described as multifaceted, with notes of violet, spice, and undergrowth.
- An ageing potential of several decades; commonly cited as 15 to 25 years. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Terroir / wine link
- Gentle east-facing slope, sheltered from morning mists and spring frosts: generous sunlight exposure that favours Pinot Noir.
