Terroir
Natural factors
- Two dominant opposing winds: Bora (east-northeast, cool and dry) and Scirocco (southeast, warm and humid), present throughout all seasons of the year.
- The winds, predominantly in the evening hours, lower nocturnal temperatures, promoting a significant diurnal temperature range.
- Soils rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium, with good water retention capacity and a well-balanced endowment of organic matter.
Human factors
- DOC Lison was recognised in 1971 for Tocai, then merged with Pramaggiore (Merlot and Cabernet) in 1985 according to Wikipedia, 1974 according to the disciplinare.
Product characteristics
- The red wines evolve from ruby red to garnet with ageing; all DOC wines display aromatic intensity of fresh fruit and good acid balance.
- The sensory profile of the DOC is defined by structure, acid balance, fresh fruit aromas, and a distinctly marked personality.
Terroir / wine link
- The 'caranto' (calcium carbonate layer at 30–70 cm depth) and the superficial alluvial argille impart mineral structure and good acid balance to the wines.
