Terroir
Natural factors
- Mediterranean climate with mild winters (min. 6–7 °C) and warm summers (max. 25–26 °C), annual rainfall ~650 mm concentrated in winter.
- Near-coastal zone of the Ionian Arc: deep clay-loam soils to the west, sandy and shallow toward the coast with limited root penetration.
- Essentially flat, climatically homogeneous territory; no specific requirements imposed on the aspect or slope of vineyard sites.
- Growers have broken through the surface rock crust to reach the fertile, cool subsoil beneath, rich in skeletal material.
- The stones extracted in the process gave rise to the characteristic dry-stone walls found in certain sub-zones of the production area.
Terroir / wine link
