- Rust-brown forest soil and calcareous csernozjom, rich in dolomit, with low illitic clay mineral content and low iron and aluminium levels.
- Mean annual temperature 11.6 °C, annual precipitation ~500 mm, sunshine ~2,000 hours/year; extreme temperature fluctuations are not characteristic.
- The exceptional soil conditions impart higher mineral content and mineral character to the wines, with low acidity and high alcohol.
