Terroir
Human factors
- Durella cited as early as 1290 under the name «Durasena» in the Statuti di Costozza; the production regulations note «Seven centuries of viticultural history in the Monti Lessini».
- Pergola (on steep slopes, requiring hand labor) and guyot/vertical trellis (on accessible sites) are the ideal training systems for Durella.
Product characteristics
- Still Durella: aromas of green apple, flint, iodine, and sulfur on a mineral foundation; high acidity, restrained body, yet a dominant and distinctive olfactory profile.
- Riserva Spumante: autolytic notes, persistent sapidity, and a mineral-bitter finish; fine and intense mousse, color ranging through to golden yellow.
Terroir / wine link
- The volcanic soils of the Lessini, rich in minerals, impart to Durella its signature aromas of flint, iodine, and sulfur — sensory markers that are specific to this denomination.
