- Typical μεσογειακό κλίμα with a mean annual temperature of 17°C and mean annual rainfall of 750 mm.
- Vineyard soils with moderately alkaline pH and relatively high calcium carbonate content.
- The zone extends from 200 to 850 m above sea level, with vineyards situated predominantly on slopes.
- Three sub-zones (mountain 550–850 m, semi-mountain 320–550 m, and lowland 200–320 m) with defining microclimatic differences.

Human factors
- The legal protection of the appellation dates back to Law 5506/1932 and Ministerial Decision No. 110822/16.09.32.
- The Phliasian vine of classical antiquity was renamed 'Αγιωργίτικο' during the Frankish and Ottoman periods.
