Terroir
Natural factors
- Humid winds arriving from the south reach the plain already dry, resulting in lower rainfall compared to central Italy.
Human factors
- The Montù grape variety, documented as early as 1829 by Acerbi under the name «Montonego», is the heart of the DOC: the production regulations require it to constitute at least 85% in Montuni.
- In the Po Valley, the natural vigor of the vine is controlled through a permanent cordone speronato trained with hanging canes.
Product characteristics
- White grapes from the Bologna-Modena plain yield straw-yellow wines of medium acidity, with herbaceous and fruity notes.
