Terroir
Natural factors
- Camp de Tarragona soils: low fertility and scarce phosphorus; Ribera d'Ebre soils: calcareous materials.
- The Camp's relief comprises two distinct units: the Serralada Prelitoral (steep slopes) and the coastal plains (vineyards).
- Mediterranean climate with high sun exposure in the Camp; Ribera d'Ebre with continental influence and marked water deficit.
- The inland water deficit reduces crop volume per hectare and raises the grape's potential alcohol.
- Alluvial soils predominate in the Ribera de Ebro subzone, especially along the riverbanks. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Product characteristics
- Reds: firm, aromatic, deep in colour favoured by high sun exposure; aromas that intensify with ageing. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
- Camp whites: soft, balanced, moderate acidity and high alcohol; Ribera d'Ebre whites: very bright and luminous.
Terroir / wine link
- The low-fertility soils of the Camp and the calcareous soils of the Ribera del Ebro are reflected in the concentration of sugars and the alcoholic degree.
