Natural factors
- Soil: a vast gravel and cobble bank extremely rich in skeletal material, formed by the alluvial fan of the Noce torrent.
- Topsoil consisting of a thin layer of sand and silt from alluvial deposits of the Noce and Adige rivers, the result of centuries of human intervention.
- Flat terrain on the Campo Rotaliano (approx. 1,200 ha) at 200–250 m above sea level, sheltered to the north by the mountain walls above Mezzolombardo and Mezzocorona.
- Climate with cold, snowy winters, hot and humid summers, average annual rainfall of ~900 mm; soils frequently irrigated.
