Natural factors
- Annual rainfall of 400–600 mm, concentrated in spring and autumn, with none in summer; sunshine exceeding 2,500 hours per year.

Human factors
- A winemaking tradition documented since the 15th century; in 1956 the cooperative «Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia» was founded.
- The indigenous variety Jaén Blanco is the backbone of the white wines; manual harvesting, cluster thinning, and green pruning are applied. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
