Terroir
Natural factors
- Intermontane basins on ancient fluvio-alluvial terraces: loose detrital deposits with low gradient, low to medium water retention.
- Vineyards up to 700 m a.s.l. along a coastal and foothill belt 20–25 km wide and approximately 125 km long, stretching from the Tronto to the Trigno.
- Marked diurnal temperature variations linked to the proximity of the Gran Sasso and Maiella massifs, conducive to the accumulation of aromatic compounds.
Human factors
- Trebbiano cited by Pliny as "Vinum trebulanum"; Pier de' Crescenzi provides its first ampelographic description in the early fourteenth century. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
- The 1972 disciplinare equated Trebbiano d'Abruzzo with Bombino bianco; the confusion between the two varieties was long debated among experts. (via Wikipedia · CC BY-SA 4.0)
Product characteristics
- Aromatic profile: fruit and floral notes in the base version, ranging to mineral in more evolved expressions (superiore/riserva).
- Dry on the palate with an almond-tinged finish, a trait distinctif that lends elegance to the wine.
