Terroir
Natural factors
- The vineyard extends across hillside soils that are most often calcareous, as well as across the ancient delta of the Aude river, where deeper soils favour a greater diversity of grape varieties.
- The vineyard rarely exceeds 100 metres in altitude and spreads across the gentle hills of the Narbonne region.
- The climate is strictly Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers, mild winters, and two rainy periods in autumn and spring, with average annual rainfall below 500 mm.
- The area is very exposed to wind, with an alternation of often violent westerly winds — which help maintain good vine-health conditions — and frequent maritime influences that bring humidity and cool air on summer nights.
