Natural factors
- Zone covering the entire Lot département: secondary-era calcareous causses, flanked by the Ségala (Primary) to the north and the Quercy blanc (Tertiary) to the south.
- Soils of Quaternary alluvial terraces deposited by the Dordogne and Lot rivers, generally well-drained and quick to warm up.
- Departmental IGP (entire Lot département); in 2009: approximately 600 ha under vine, around 230 producers, 2 cooperative cellars, and 145 independent wineries.
