Terroir

• The vineyards of the Laona Akama appellation are located to the west of the Pafos district, at elevations ranging from 400 m to 650 m above sea level.
• The terrain is semi-mountainous, with gentle natural slopes of between 10 and 20 degrees and numerous ravines.
• The soils of the area are characterised by calcareous rocks and a shallow, poor topsoil.
• The area is influenced by a maritime climate and westerly winds, with a hot, humid summer and a relatively mild winter.
• Mean annual rainfall is around 386.7 mm, with December, January, February, and March recording the highest precipitation.

• The Xynisteri variety accounts for the largest share of planted area in the Laona Akama appellation, at 76%.
• After Xynisteri, the Dopio Mavro variety follows, accounting for 11.9% of the planted area in the appellation.
