- Poor ασβεστόλιθος soils in the south/west; volcanic and rocky steep soils exceeding 30° in the north/northeast.
- Vineyards are established on terraces due to the pronounced slope of the terrain.
- Mean annual rainfall of 530.35 mm, concentrated between December and March; minimal to zero precipitation during the remaining months.
