Natural factors
- Hilly terrain with an altitudinal range from 80 to 1,180 m above sea level; vineyards are permitted only from at least 120 m above sea level, excluding the more humid valley floors.
- Complex orography: to the south the slopes of the Roccamonfina volcano, in the centre the Monte Camino (946 m) – La Difesa (956 m) massif, and on the eastern boundary Monte Cesima (1,180 m) and Monte Cavallo (966 m).
- Spring and summer winds of moderate intensity and frequency help to temper temperatures throughout the appellation area.
