Terroir

• Vineyards on semi-mountainous to mountainous terrain at elevations of 600–1,000 m, with an average slope of 20°–30°.
• Poor ασβεστόλιθος soils with numerous ravines; vineyards are established on terraces.
• Summers are hot and dry; winters are mild to cold above 800 m. Mean daily temperature of 17.2°C (1991–2005).
• Mean annual rainfall of 653.2 mm, concentrated mainly from December to March; the remaining months receive minimal precipitation.

• Vineyards are shaped into terraces to enable cultivation on slopes of 20°–30° at elevations of 600–1,000 m.
• The wine-producing varieties of the ΠΟΠ are classified as traditional to the region.

• The poor ασβεστόλιθος soils at elevations of 600–1,000 m are directly linked to the character of the region's wines.
