• Cool oceanic climate with continental influences: mean annual temperature 10.5 °C, warm and humid summers, precipitation ≤ 800 mm/year.

• Vines on steep hillside slopes at 300–400 m, south-west facing, for maximum sunshine, rapid drainage, and protection from cold northerly winds.
