The vineyard is planted on gently sloping marly-limestone hillsides derived from Kimmeridgian marls, as well as on ancient alluvial terraces composed of sands and gravels.
Soils developed over Kimmeridgian strata are shallow and are found mainly on south-south-east-facing slopes and on plateau edges, which favour the drainage of water and cold air.
On the ancient terraces, healthy brown soils warm up quickly and are well suited to vine development.
The climate is semi-continental with oceanic influence, with annual rainfall of around 600 mm and sunny, warm, dry summers that allow early ripening.
The vineyard extends across the hillsides of the Cher and its tributaries, the Arnon and the Théols, in the vicinity of the protected designations of origin Quincy and Reuilly.
