Terroir
Natural factors
- Hilly relief that lowers temperatures and increases precipitation; sun-exposed slopes sheltered from cold winds.
- Soils with loamy deposits, yellowish-brown or reddish, with gravels and sands in the eroded areas (Ardud-Beltiug-Hurez).
- Frequently calcareous loamy sediments, rich in nutrients, in the hills of Hododului — favouring anthocyanin accumulation.
- The hydrographic network belongs to the Crasna, Someș, Tur and Ier basins, with their tributaries bordering the slopes planted with vines.
Product characteristics
- White wines with vibrant acidity and aromas of elderflower, green apple, honey and acacia; red wines with vanilla notes from 12 months in oak barrels.
- Red wines from the calcareous soils of Hododului accumulate abundant anthocyanins, with aromas of red currants, blackberries and blueberries.
Terroir / wine link
- The calcareous loamy soils of the Hododului hills favour anthocyanin accumulation, lending red wines aromas of wild berries and a full body.
