Terroir

• Mediterranean climate with mild wet winters, hot dry summers, and average rainfall of ~450 mm, distributed between October and April.
• Αμπελουργική ζώνη situated at altitudes above 30 m, in the easternmost part of Κρήτη, surrounded by three seas.
• The Dikti mountain range defines the western boundary of the area, shaping the relief of the αμπελουργική ζώνη.
• A diversity of soils combined with climate and local winds compose the uniqueness of the ΠΓΕ Lasithi wines.

• Traces of wine dating to 2000 BC in Κρήτη; the oldest wine press in the world was discovered on the island.
