Terroir

• The winegrowing areas are located mainly on the northern slopes of the Troodos mountain range, with a relatively mild climate in summer and cold in winter.
• The relief is mountainous with pronounced natural gradient, at altitudes from 500m to 1300m and an average soil slope of 20 to 40 degrees, with many ravines and multiple mountain ranges.
• The soils are volcanic, stony and infertile, and are usually shaped into terraces in order to make vineyard establishment feasible.
• The average daily temperature, based on measurements from the 1991-2005 period, is around 15.1 degrees Celsius, with summer values between 22 and 24.8 degrees and winter values between 6 and 7.6 degrees Celsius.
• Average annual rainfall is around 721.7mm, with December, January, February and March showing the highest rainfall and the remaining months minimal rainfall.

• The vineyards occupy the infertile and steep areas of Lefkosia, making their maintenance extremely difficult.
• The area mostly features vineyards with irregular planting, trained in bush-vine (goblet) shape, with a varietal structure consisting almost exclusively of Ntopio Mavro and Xynisteri and, to a lesser extent, Maratheftiko.
