Natural factors
- Calcareous-marly and clayey turbidites in the Albenganese area, with fine loamy texture and neutral to subalkaline reaction.
- Vineyards on terraced and steep slopes, between 0 and 800 m a.s.l., with gradients of 35–50% and predominantly east–south-east exposure.
- Mediterranean climate with a mean temperature of ~14°C, a Huglin index of ~1970°C, and a rainfall minimum in July (average 12 mm).
- Zone sheltered to the north by the last spurs of the Alps, with narrow valleys and steep hillsides that shape the coastal microclimate.
