Terroir

• The Black Sea region falls within the eastern part of the Danubian hilly plain, located in northeastern Bulgaria, with a predominantly rolling-to-flat relief.
• The climate is moderately continental, yet strongly influenced by the immediate proximity of the Black Sea, which considerably moderates it, with characteristic breeze circulation throughout most of the summer.
• The total heat accumulation for the period with mean daily temperatures above 10 °C (April–October) ranges from 3,500 to 3,750 °C, and the mean annual precipitation totals between 450 and 650 mm.
• Soil types include grey forest soils of medium or heavy sandy-clay texture, dark grey forest soils of sandy or heavy sandy-clay texture, calcareous chernozems, and alluvial-colluvial meadow soils.
• The Black Sea region differs from the Yuzhno Chernomorie region by its shorter and drier summer and colder winter, owing to its exposure from the north and the incursion of cold air masses.

• Permitted vine training systems include Umbrella, Moser, and mid-trunk double-arm cordon, with pruning that is mixed and short, with a load of up to 54 buds per vine.
• Planting spacings range from 2.0 m to 3.4 m between rows and from 1.0 to 1.5 m within rows, with a maximum density of up to 450 vines per decare.

• White wines from the Black Sea region display pronounced aromas of citrus and southern fruits, with a fresh, balanced, fruity palate.
• Red wines offer fruity aromas interweaving notes of pepper, spice, herbs, and resinous tones, with a fresh, fruity, and juicy palate.
