Terroir

• Lightly alluvial skeletal soil over limestone or brown podzolized soil resting on gravels — promotes rapid warming of the terrain.
• The influence of the Central-European climate brings milder winters, increased precipitation, and temperatures 3–4 °C lower in September.
• Decreasing precipitation from August through October and a 3–4 °C drop in September preserve aromas and acidity in the grapes.
• The deep valleys of the Crișuri rivers generate moist autumn fogs, encouraging the accumulation of fruity aromas in white varieties.
• The vineyard sites are positioned on steeply inclined slopes, sheltered from winds and cold air currents.

• Cellars dug into the hillside on two or three levels, connected to livestock markets: wine from the grower's own harvest was offered to buyers after trading.
