Natural factors
- Преходноконтинентален климат, sheltered from cold northern air masses by Стара планина, with a mild средиземноморско влияние along the Tundzha river valley.
- Flat-to-rolling terrain in the Tundzha–Странджа plain, at approximately 200 m above sea level, in south-eastern Bulgaria.
- Dominant soils: heavy sandy-clay смолници (leached, typical, and calcareous) and канелена горска почва.
- The soils and microclimate impart density, fruitiness, and soft tannins to the red wines, and a full, balanced palate with a persistent finish to the whites.
Human factors
- Permitted varieties: whites – Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Тамянка; reds/rosé – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot.
- Mixed and short pruning up to 54 buds per vine; training systems Ombrella, Moser, and mid-trunk double-arm cordon; max. 450 vines per decare.
Product characteristics
- The red wines are deeply coloured, with a fruity bouquet, full body, and soft, fine tannins — a direct expression of the смолници and канелена горска почва.
- The white wines stand out for their rich and persistent fruity aroma, full and balanced palate, and impressive length.
