Terroir
Natural factors
- Hilly relief at 250–500 m elevation, on south-west-facing slopes, between the floodplain of the Târnava Mică and the upland zone.
- Substrate of sandy marls and marly clays at the base of the hills; carbonated colluvial soils in microdepresions and vertisols.
- The dominant soil is eutric brown and argillo-illuvial brown, with a fertile humus layer that enhances the absorption of solar heat.
- Typically continental climate: mean annual temperature 9.7 °C, rainfall 617 mm/year, sunshine 1,426 hours, real heliothermal index Ihr = 1.75.
Human factors
- Unique gravity-flow winery: vinification on the communicating-vessels principle minimises oenological intervention, highlighting the terroir and the character of indigenous varieties.
- Romania's first private vine nursery, with a capacity of 5 million grafted vines per year, supplying authentic, healthy, and certified planting material.
Product characteristics
- Balanced white wines with integrated acidity, aromas of flowers, fruit, citrus, and herbal notes; with ageing they evolve toward ripe fruit and honey.
- Sparkling wines with a fine, persistent mousse, autolytic notes (dough, brioche, almonds), and citrus freshness; high acidity balanced by a creamy texture.
Terroir / wine link
- Humus in the soil releases H⁺ ions, generating natural acidity and a distinctive minerality that are subsequently found in the must and the wine.
