- Transitional-Mediterranean climate with Aegean Sea influence along the Струма river valley — short and mild winters, long and warm autumns.
- Mean annual precipitation 530 mm; mean elevation approximately 250–300 m.
- The vineyards are situated in the valley of the Струма river and at the foot of the southwestern slopes of the Pirin mountain, in southwestern Bulgaria.
- The soils are forest soils, heavily eroded and leached.
Product characteristics
- Dominant aroma: ripe cherry and spice, with notes of small wild berries and piquant hints of tobacco.
- The only permitted variety for red wines and rosé is Широка мелнишка лоза — a native autochthonous variety.
