Terroir

• Transitional-Mediterranean climate with Aegean Sea influence along the Струма river valley — short and mild winters, long and warm autumns.
• Mean annual precipitation 530 mm; mean elevation approximately 250–300 m.
• The vineyards are situated in the valley of the Струма river and at the foot of the southwestern slopes of the Pirin mountain, in southwestern Bulgaria.
• The soils are forest soils, heavily eroded and leached.

• Dominant aroma: ripe cherry and spice, with notes of small wild berries and piquant hints of tobacco.
• The only permitted variety for red wines and rosé is Широка мелнишка лоза — a native autochthonous variety.

• The Aegean influence along the Струма valley creates hot summers and a long warm autumn — conditions for the full ripening of Широка мелнишка лоза.
• The heavily eroded and leached forest soils restrict yields and concentrate the aromatic profile of the wine.
• The interplay of climate, soils, and variety produces a dominant aroma of ripe cherry, spice, and piquant tobacco notes.
