Terroir

• Transitional Mediterranean climate with Aegean Sea influence along the Struma Valley — winters are short and mild, autumns long and warm.
• Mean annual rainfall of 530 mm; mean elevation approximately 250–300 m.
• The vineyards are situated in the Struma Valley and at the foot of the south-western slopes of Pirin Mountain, in south-western Bulgaria.
• The soils are forest soils, heavily eroded and leached.

• The only variety permitted for red wines and rosé is Shiroka Melnishka Loza — a local autochthonous variety.

• The interplay of climate, soils, and variety gives rise to a dominant aromatic profile of ripe cherry, spice, and piquant tobacco notes.
• The heavily eroded and leached forest soils restrict yields and concentrate the aromatic profile of the wine.
