Climate ranging from subhumid to subarid: rainfall concentrated in autumn and winter, peaking in October and at its lowest in June; pronounced summer water deficit.
On the hilly relief, sandy or conglomeratic formations dominate, with moderately shallow soils and signs of hydromorphia within 50 cm.
