Terroir

• Hilly and low-mountain terrain in the southern Тракийска низина — between the western slopes of Сакар and the Eastern Родопи.
• Climate: tempered умереноконтинентален with strong средиземноморско влияние penetrating through the Maritsa river valley; mild winters, hot summers.
• Sunshine up to 2,100 hours per year; cumulative temperature sum above 10 °C — approximately 3,850 °C; average precipitation around 500 mm.
• Soils: leached канелена горска почва (medium to heavy sandy-clay) and leached chernozem смолница (medium to heavy sandy-clay).
• The southerly exposure intensifies solar radiation; the microclimate and soils favour deeply coloured, highly extracted red wines.

• Permitted varieties for red wines include indigenous cultivars: Памид, Мавруд, Евмолпия, Тракийска слава, Рубин, Широка мелнишка лоза, Ранна Мелнишка лоза, and Мелнишки Рубин.
• Pruning is mixed and short with a load of up to 54 buds per vine; permitted training systems — Омбрела, Мозер, Гюйо, and mid-trunk double-arm cordon.

• The white wines show fruity aromas, a full palate, and elegant freshness; the rosé displays wild strawberry and cherry notes, with acidity of 4.5–6 g/l.
• The red wines are deeply coloured and highly extracted — a result of канелени горски почви, chernozem смолници, and a средиземноморски microclimate.
