Terroir

• The vineyards are situated in the far north-western part of the Danubian Plain, in immediate proximity to the bank of the Danube.
• The average elevation of the region is 210 metres, and the climate is continental, with hot summers and cold winters.
• Total annual rainfall is approximately 580 mm, and the cumulative heat sum for the period with mean daily temperatures above 10°C (April–October) is 3,800°C.
• The average daily temperature of the warmest month is 22.5°C, and the soil types are leached chernozems, moderately eroded, with a poorly developed humus horizon.
• The mechanical composition of the soils is clay-sandy with a calcareous subsoil, and the soil-climate characteristics favour the production of grapes with a sugar content of 21% and acidity of 7.5 g/l.

• The authorised wine-grape varieties for red wines and rosé include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Gamza.
• Viticultural practices include pruning, which is mixed and short with a load of up to 54 buds per vine, using the Umbrella, Moser, and mid-trunk double-arm cordon training systems.

• The red wines have a dense ruby-red colour, with aromas predominantly characterised by notes of ripe dark fruits.

• The immediate proximity of the Danube and the hilly relief determine the characteristic microclimate of the region, which, combined with the light-textured soils with a calcareous subsoil and the restrictive conditions imposed by human management, predetermines the production of full-bodied, deeply coloured, alcohol-rich wines.
