Terroir
Natural factors
- Hilly terrain in the northern Дунавска равнина with leached and calcareous черноземи overlying a льос substratum.
- Annual precipitation around 540 mm; cumulative temperature above 10 °C (Apr.–Oct.) almost always exceeding 3,900 °C.
- Proximity to the Danube River and the льос substratum ensure moisture for a vigorous root system even during the hottest summer days.
- The vineyard sites lie within the municipal boundaries of Свищов — the locality of "Горчивка", the village of Бяла вода, and the village of Совата.
Human factors
- Permitted varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Гъмза; maximum yield 9,000 kg/ha; extraction rate for red wine — 65 l/100 kg of grapes.
Product characteristics
- A deep ruby colour and a bouquet with raspberry notes are characteristic of ЗНП "Свищов".
- The palate is harmonious, soft, and supple — the result of grapes with a sugar content >21% and acidity of 7–8 g/dm³.
Terroir / wine link
- The льос substratum beneath the черноземи provides water retention that protects the vine from stress even on hot days.
